Each year, GSUSA joins over 5,000 women and girls from around the world at the United Nations headquarters in New York to participate in the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). CSW is a functional commission of the UN, dedicated exclusively to gender equality and advancement of women. Every year, national representatives of Member States gather for a two-week session to evaluate progress on gender equality, identify challenges, set global standards and formulate concrete policies to promote gender equality and the advancement of women worldwide. As NGO Consultative members, Girl Scouts of the USA and the World Association of Girl Guides/Girl Scouts participate to bring the voice of girls and young women to the global stage.
GSCCC is seeking four delegates (ages 14-18) to represent GSUSA and WAGGGS from March 7-14, 2014 in New York City and participate in online trainings from November 2013 – February 2014. All relevant funding for selected delegates will be covered by GSCCC. Girls will be chaperoned by a GSCCC staff member and a GSCCC volunteer. Selected delegates will be contacted by November 1, 2013. Applications must be sent to jenniferm@gsccc.org by 4p.m. on October 25, 2013.
