Reminder: Property Presentation on the Mill House at Camp Burke's Mill Pond

Please join Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast for a presentation and discussion on a 2013 property development report on the historical Mill House at Camp Burke's Mill Pond located in Gloucester, Virginia. The Mill House and the property parcel where Camp Burke’s Mill Pond is located were donated to Girl Scouts in 1972. Since that time, many property improvements have been made on the camp, as well as repairs to the Mill House after several severe storms. A recent study on the Mill House has been completed for the Council’s current property development plan and those findings will be shared at this gathering. Learn more.

Our goal is to provide a safe and program directed property that helps us deliver the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to the girls we serve. We invite you to give input into the property development findings. You’ll also enjoy learning about the Camp’s history!
  • When: Tuesday, August 6, 2013
  • Time: 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Where: Camp Burke's Mill Pond, Treakle Cabin
  • Questions, comments? John Morgan, johnm@gsccc.org, (757)547-4405 ext. 1228 or Camile Berry, camileb@gsccc.org, (757)547-4405 ext. 1286
Planning to attend?  Please let John or Camile know.  Thank you!

Registration System is Getting an Upgrade!

Everyone is preparing for another exciting year in Girl Scouts! You asked for improvements on the registration site (ebiz.gsccc.org), we advocated for changes and GSUSA listened. GSUSA is introducing a major software upgrade beginning August 12. You will notice the following upgrades:

  • One log in per family
  • Improved search capability for girl programs and adult training
  • Much easier site navigation and usability

ebiz.gsccc.org will be unavailable beginning Friday, August 9 to Monday, August 12 so that the system can be upgraded during that time frame.

Read on to learn more about this exciting upgrade!
As part of the upgrade, and to make way for the long awaited single login functionality, all existing accounts (user names and passwords) will be deactivated.

All adults will be required to create a New Online Account to gain access to the system following the upgrade. You can reuse your old user name and password when creating your new online account if you choose. With your new online account, you will be able to manage yourself, your family and/or troop(s) depending on your current participation status. For example, a troop leader who has a daughter participating in Girl Scouts will be able to manage both her family and troop(s) with a single login. We are excited about these upgrades and improvements that have the potential for time saving and making your registration experience easier. Stay tuned for more information...

Join our Girl Voices Panel...and get the chance to win a Kindle Fire!

Let YOUR VOICE Be Heard…and get the chance to win a Kindle Fire!

Girl Scouts of Colonial Coast Council is inviting Girl Scout members to use our on-line survey system to tell us about their Girl Scout experiences. Feedback will help us understand better how Girl Scouting is benefiting girls and how we can make their experiences even better!

There are two easy steps to participate:

1. Step 1: Complete the Registration Survey to join the Girl Scout Voices survey community at www.girlscoutvoices.org (Girls under the age of 13 will need parental/guardian permission which is included as part of the registration.)

2. Step 2: Complete the Girl Voices survey in September (A separate survey invitation will be sent at that time to those members who have registered.) A second Girl Voices Survey will be sent in June, 2014. These two surveys will help us to measure how girls have achieved the 15 outcomes of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

Adults, we need your help to encourage girls to register – and specifically to help girls under the age of 13 complete the registration survey!!

  • To show our appreciation, ALL girls who complete Step 1 by September 15, 2013 will be entered to win a Kindle Fire! The winner of the kindle Fire will be announced September 30, 2013.
  •    In addition, all girls who also complete Step 2 by November 1, 2013 will be entered to win one of four $25 Amazon.com gift cards. Winners of the gift cards will be announced November 15, 2013.
Please note, for all research surveys from Girl Scouts USA and Girl Scouts of Colonial Coast Council, you can be assured of the following:

  • Responses will remain completely confidential. Member names will not appear on the surveys.
  • Council staff, troop leaders, and certainly other girls – will not know how members responded.
  • All survey data will be processed and stored in a secure environment.
  • These surveys are solely for research purposes related to Girl Scouts of the USA. Girls will not be marketed to, solicited or exposed to any form of advertisement as a result of participating in the series of surveys.
We sincerely hope you will be a part of this effort. Thank you in advance for supporting this work! Again, please encourage your girls to register by clicking on this link: www.girlscoutvoices.org
